Board of Review

The Fork Township Board of Review Convenes four time yearly, March, July, and December.

• March Board of Review:  Organizational Meeting, convenes on Tuesday immediately following the first Monday in March to receive and examine the current assessment roll and to establish the SOP's for the Board of Review.

• March Board of Review:  At 9:00 on the second Monday in March the Board will hear protest and make corrections to assessments of property so that the valuations, in the board's opinion, will be just and equal to other assessments in the roll.  You should attend if:

1. You think your taxes are too high.

2. To claim a hardship.

3. You think tentative taxable value is too high.

4. If your valuations are correct, but are higher then other property in the neighborhood or other property similar to your property.

5. The property shouldn't be assessed at all.

6. Your not protesting the assessment, but just wanting to check the current valuation, or would like to see he property's work sheet.

7. You think the Assessor has the wrong classification on the property.

• July Board of Review: Convenes on Tuesday following the third Monday in July.  The purpose for this meeting is to:

1. Correct clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact and situations involving hardship exemptions, homestead exemptions and qualified agricultural exemptions.  

• December Board of Review Convenes on Tuesday following the second Monday in December.  The purpose for this meeting is to: 

1. Correct clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact and situations involving hardship exemptions, homestead exemptions and qualified agricultural exemptions.

An appointment or quick call to the Assessor can often save you a trip to the BOR or save time if you find an appearance necessary.

Road Committee

The Fork Township Road committee is comprised of at least one (1) township board member and five (5) other members  ("Members-At-Large").   Members are appointed by the township board for terms of one (1) year.  

 

It is the committee's responsibility to assist the township board in creating and maintaining a road maintenance priory list as well as other issues as they may pertain to the roads in fork township.

 

Periodic Road Committee meetings are held at the Fork Township Hall and are open to the public.  Dates and times will be posted at the Fork Township Hall for review.

Fire Department

The Department is comprised of men and women from Fork Township and the surrounding area.   And although all volunteers, each member is highly trained and extremely dedicated to there job. 

 Library Board

 

The Barryton Public Library, a district Library comprised of  Chippewa and Fork Township along with the Village of Barryton.

The Library Board has custodial care over the Barryton Public Library and is made up of members at large from each of the Townships and  Village.
